Syncope in the elderly
Univerzitet u Novom Sadu, Medicinski fakultet, Institut za kardiovaskularne bolesti

Abstract

Syncope in the elderly was specific because this age characterized disturbances in some physiological function, which lead to syncope. Drug abusing in this patients, comorbidity can cause syncopae more often than in younger population. Many of this episodes could be connected with serious injury, and death. Use of antihypertensives, (especially vasodilatators), alcohol, inappropriate meals, can lead to postural hypotension and syncope. Therapeuticall approach consist of avoiding orthostatic stress, carefully indication of drug, pacemaker and ICD implantation.
